CAPE MAY WAS WET & AWESOME

Looking, unsuccessfully, for eiders & Razorbills @ Sea Isle, NJ

I missed the Golden Eagle and any other birds at the blind but the Avalon sea watch provided lifers and year birds. The count is up to 324. I will be happy if I can reach 400 at this point. It rained most of the time I was there and we also had plenty of fog but seabirding was fun! Purple Sandpiper was one very cool life bird as well as Red-throated Loon. Oh, and White-winged Scoter although not as good a look. Brants and American Oystercatchers! I will post the whole list when I get a chance and pics when I can get them from Scott...he should have some fantastic shots especially of Brant!

Matt & Eddie at Avalon Seawatch

When we were at Sea Isle we stopped at a place called Mrs. Brizzles for some hoagies as recommended by Matt's girlfriend, the Avalon Sea Hag.
We got half hoagies that were probably 12" long and had so much meat on them you couldn't close them. My "half" sandwich lasted me for dinner & breakfast the next morning! If you go to Cape May make sure you go to the Lobster House and get some clam chowder. I got to meat some new people at the rental house as well and if any of you read this by chance, It was a pleasure to meat you! Rebecca & Rhonda I will go owling with you anytime!

did it again, been playing with the team blog. nuts. still stupid. that's why I work for the state of TN. They told me once that they hired me because they didn't think I could find another job and wouldn't ever leave. (previous ornithologists last about 2.5 yrs on avg)

Matt, the funk is from kissing those nasty fish those guys were catching; no telling what they carry! My only advice...keep it on the gwound, Matt.
