I got a Brown Creeper yesterday...

and not just in my pants. I went out to New Richmond, Oh to see if I could find a Purple Finch. Before reaching the area I was headed I decided to stop at a river overlook to see what was what. Ring-billed Gulls were flying up the river in an almost endless straggling line towards Cincinnati. Other than that just a couple of Mallards on the river. As we got back in the car to head on a bird flew to the base of a tree right in front of us and I figured it was a Downy Woodpecker but sure enough it was the first Brown Creeper I have seen this year and it was so unexpected and exciting that I got a little brown creeper of my own!!
Went on to the scheduled destination and found no Pruple Finches but did get my first Eastern Towhee of the year!
So that is number 73 and 74 and I am off to Florida tomorrow!
