I went to Armleder park last night and saw about 40 nighthawks. They were flying around eating all over the place. Well after dark they were flying low and all of the sudden a bird flying like a nighthawk but much larger and accipiter looking flew right over head...twice. No white wingbars. I wonder if it was an owl or a late night accipiter? Maybe a spirit bird from the underworld? I had beaver and potatoes for dinner tonight. We were having tenderloin one night and the kids asked what kind of meat it was and I didn't know so I told them it was beaver meat. Now whenever we eat it we call it beaver. yum.
